FAQ - Frequently asked questions about the campsite

camping on the seaside in tuscany in vada direct access to beachCamping RadaEtrusca, among the campsites by the sea in Tuscany, is directly by the sea. By 'directly on the sea' we mean that from the access gate to the campsite (on the sea side) there is direct access to the beach of fine sand and shallow water.
In Vada (in the province of Livorno) almost all campsites are close to the sea, but only a few are truly adjacent to the beach. Among the campsites directly by the sea in Vada, is Camping RadaEtrusca.
From the foreshore (the line along which the sea wave beats the beach; also known as the battima) to the gate will be 70 metres...(?) then it also depends on the tide... come and measure it, we are waiting for you at the RadaEtrusca!
RadaEtrusca is a taditional campsite, not a holiday village. Camping RadaEtrusca is a campsite directly by the sea, with pitches on grassy or sandy ground and 5-seater mobile homes, all the same.
It is a campsite without organised entertainment, but campers' initiatives are allowed, ranging from beach volleyball tournaments to sandcastle competitions and evening trump tournaments at the bar. During the night at Camping RadaEtrusca there is silence*, there is room to sleep under the branches or under the stars.
Life at the campsite is between the beach, the tent, the shower, the restaurant and the bar, so we recommend an occasional bike ride, or at least a walk after lunch on the beach to digest.
There is no swimming pool, you swim in the sea, on the beach is fine and the water is shallow.
*During the period 15 July - 15 August the campsite is very busy and you may hear some buzz in the evenings or at peak times.
The mobile homes are rented weekly from Saturday afternoon to the following Saturday morning.
For organisational and hygienic reasons, the mobile homes are rented from week to week, from 4 p.m. on Saturday to 10 a.m. the following Saturday. To stay two or three nights, however, a reservation of the entire week is required.
From the entrance to the campsite, proceeding northwards, at the beginning of the village of Vada there are 1500 metres to cover on a cycle path that is mostly separated from the road. Another 500 metres of road leads to the town centre.
If, on the other hand, one proceeds southwards, the nearest village is Vada Mazzanta, about 3000 metres away. Both destinations can also be reached with a walk along the beach.
Inside the RadaEtrusca campsite there is a genuine restaurant serving traditional Tuscan cuisine, with seafood and meat dishes. In the family-run restaurant, pizza is also made. If you prefer to eat 'at home', on the pitch, all dishes can be taken away and pasta and pizza have special take-away prices ;-)
There is also a mini-market on the campsite where you can find fresh bread every day, fresh vegetables and fruit, chilled drinks and all possible ingredients for preparing your meals on the campsite.
For those more accustomed to bar life on the campsite, there is a bar! It provides essentials such as packaged ice cream, aperitifs, tobacco, espresso and cappuccino...
In the bar there are NO slot machines, no lottery tickets or scratch cards or other such 'devilry' sold.
At Camping RadaEtrusca there are mobile-homes available for guests, rentable from week to week, from Saturday to Saturday.
At Camping RadaEtrusca you can rent air-conditioned 5-person casemobile-bungalows, with two rooms and a living room-kitchen, and bathroom with shower, 100 meters from the beach and 50 meters from the campsite restaurant.
Each mobile-home comes with a beach bed and deck chair as well as a small fenced garden, suitable for naps or small children.
The casamobile model found at RadaEtrusca is one, consisting of a small porch with a table, a living room, two separate rooms (one with a double bed and the other with two single beds and one overhead - a total of 5 places - ), and is equipped with all amenities including air conditioning, a fully equipped kitchen, bathroom with shower, satellite TV, refrigerator with freezer... each mobile home is surrounded by a small lawn for naps....pianta casamobile Campeggio Toscana sul mare Campeggio RadaEtrusca
Every camper is expected to have good manners and respect for other campers. For the best running of the camp site there are internal rules.
Animal friends are allowed on the campsite with the exception of the high season, the season with the highest influx of people. So from 12 July to 18 August dogs are not allowed on the campsite. Pets are not allowed in the mobile homes.
Access to the beach and into the sea for dogs is defined by the municipal regulations, i.e. dogs on a leash and muzzle are allowed on the beaches at all times, however they may only 'bathe' between 8 p.m. and 8 a.m., i.e. not during the day. However, it is also necessary to follow common sense, especially with people who may be uncomfortable in the presence of dogs without a leash.
Due to the geomorphological characteristics of the area, the water is shallow. The seabed slopes very slowly, and several dozen metres from the beach the water reaches your calf. The beach is fine sand and has a natural sand colour. We are in front of the area known as the 'Secche di Vada', an area of shallow water (even less than 2.5 metres several miles from the shore), also signalled to ships by the Vada Lighthouse, which is over 4.5 nautical miles from the mainland.
At Camping RadaEtrusca the greatest fun is bathing for hours in the sea, because due to the characteristics of the area the water is shallow. In addition, the campsite offers a protected environment characterised by the 'spirit of solidarity between campers', which arises spontaneously here. There are no initiatives organised by the campsite for children, but some spontaneous initiatives (e.g. the legendary Sandcastle Race).
